Annalena Baerbock: Germany's Foreign Minister
Early Life and Career
Annalena Baerbock was born on December 15, 1980, in Hannover, Germany. She studied political science and public law at the University of Hamburg and the London School of Economics. After graduating, she worked as a journalist and public relations consultant.
Political Career
Baerbock entered politics in 2009 when she joined the Alliance 90/The Greens party. She was elected to the German Bundestag in 2013 and has served as co-leader of the Greens since 2018.
In 2021, Baerbock was appointed Foreign Minister of Germany. She is the first woman to hold this position.
Foreign Policy Priorities
As Foreign Minister, Baerbock has emphasized the importance of multilateralism, climate diplomacy, and human rights. She has also been a vocal critic of Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
Personal Life
Baerbock is married and has two daughters. She is an avid hiker and skier.
