Do Giants Need Help In Secondary

Secondary Still Giants' Sore Spot

The New York Giants Need Help In The Secondary

The New York Giants came into training camp excited to see what their young secondary is made of. However, there are few elite players left available in free agency that the Giants could target. The Giants have needed help in their secondary for the last couple of seasons running and any assistance would be welcome, but the Giants may be content for any assistance to emerge from within.

Currently, the Giants have a mix of young and veteran players in the secondary. However, none may be more glaring than in the secondary, where James Bradberry left a big hole when he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason. The Giants cornerbacks outside of Adoree’ Jackson have struggled to cover nearly every top wide receiver they’ve faced, and the safeties have been inconsistent at best.

In 2024, new defensive coordinator Wink Martindale's defense will require the secondary to play less on an island and more as a sum of their parts. The Giants are hoping that the addition of safeties Tony Jefferson and Jarren Williams will help to solidify the back end of the defense. However, the Giants still have some holes to fill on their roster, and the secondary is one of the biggest concerns.
